Man Sentenced To Death Over Ants
February 20th 2007 06:19
A Chinese man was sentenced to death for scamming people out of 3 billion yuan ($387 million). The man created a fake business that supposedly made wine, tea and medical elixirs using black ants.
Ants are thought to be a natural remedy when steeped in tea or soaked in liquor.
The man sold packages of ants worth 200 yuan to investors for as much as 10,000 yuan. He spent 798 million yuan of the scam money on himself.
More than 10,000 investors signed contracts with the fake company, with the promise of returns up to 60 percent.

This is just too much. Death because of an ant scam? The Chinese must really love their ants. Lest you say I'm a racist, I'm half Chinese but I don't think much about ants unless they bite me.
