Man Fakes Own Death To See How Friends Would React

March 22nd 2007 02:24
A Bosnian man faked his own death and sent out invitations to his funeral to 45 friends and relatives. On the day of the supposed funeral, he hid behind a bush to observe his guests. Unfortunately for him, only his grandmother showed up. This angered him. Understandable since he paid a lot to stage this fake funeral. If the same thing happened to me, fake or real funeral, I would vow to haunt my "friends".

“I paid a lot of money to get a fake death certificate and bribe undertakers to deliver an empty coffin … I really thought a lot more of you, my so-called friends, would turn up to pay their last respects. It just goes to show who you can really count on.”

Dementia ...

I'd never do that ... I know no-one would turn up ... I'd spend the money on my own private wake ...

It's not surprising no one showed up - who would want to be friends with someone so dickish as to fake his own death and put the people who care about him in pain?

Care bloody dinkum Nina!!
Although we all know at some point we've all secretly wondered who might turn up, or how big, our own funeral might be (date aside) ....

Bryn,

That's the first time I heard that expression. What does dinkum mean?

Nina,

I would care if nobody attends my funeral.

I think a lot of people want to die just to know their friends will cry; sometimes we do a lot of crazy things to hear that people love us, that they'll cry when we're gone.

Aussie term, meaning "fair call", "damn right" ... that kind of thing ...

Selfish guy like that? You'd think he'd learned a lesson when no one showed up, but I guess not. Hope he appreciates his granny more, anyway..

I've always wanted to do that!

Every day I think of beautiful ways to die. Pity I wouldn't be around to high-five myself for a suicide well done.
