Firemen Told To Do Manual Labor

June 4th 2007 13:22
Firefighters in a Cleveland suburb have been ordered to cut grass and trim shrubs when they're not busy battling blazes.

"We have 54 firefighters, and they have a lot of downtime," said East Cleveland, Ohio, Mayor Eric Brewer. "Instead of sitting around the station, they'll be assisting us as we beautify the city."

The firefighters' union opposes the plan.

Yes. They should oppose it! Cutting grass is for illegal immigrants from third world countries like the Philippines.

HMmmm it's a good idea, but then maybe not. if they are out cutting lawns, then how can they be to fires fast. They have to go all the way back to the station, suit up and then go. "Nope, i think it's a bad idea. having them ready in waiting is the best idea."i don't want my house to brun down because they are not here in time.

Tammy nailed it--in order to be in a state of constant readiness, these guys can't be out doing yardwork for the city of Cleveland.

Sheesh.
