Creepy Underwater Sculptures
September 26th 2008 08:42
Orble threatened to pull the plug on this blog since I haven't posted for ages so I here I post again. I know, I've been lazy and shit but whatever.
Jason de Caires Taylor is the creator of the first underwater sculpture park. At least, that's what his website says. The sculptures which are installed off the Caribbean island of Granada can be mistaken for a modern Atlantis if an unsuspecting diver finds himself there.
Taylor, an avid diver, creates his sculptures out of wire, plaster and steel. They serve as artificial reefs for sea creatures so not only has he created art, he's doing the environment good as well. Nice!
If I have a beach property, I'd commission him to do creepy works for me. I'd dump them in the middle of the night and invite friends to snorkel without informing them about the sculptures.
