Woman Filmed Killing Of Lover

January 19th 2008 20:17
I actually want to see that film.

A 19-year-old Chinese student recorded the killing and dismembering of her married lover by her boyfriend, local media said on Friday.

The second-year student in the southwestern province of Yunnan, her boyfriend and another male accomplice had all been arrested after the killing last month, the Southern Metropolis Daily said.

The victim, 39, was a married manager at a local highway and bridge building company, the newspaper said.

The girl, who was from a struggling family in the capital Beijing and met the victim as a nightclub hostess, filmed as he was killed and his body was cut into "hundreds of pieces," the newspaper said.

"The dismembering was both out of hatred and aimed at making the body unrecognisable," the report said.

This reminds of some photos I saw online of an actual killing and dismemberment. Sick, I know. It haunted me for days.

Vampira Is Dead

January 17th 2008 17:38
vampira

Maila Numi, who popularised the early-TV macabre character Vampira has died on Jan 10 in her Hollywood Hills home. She is believed to be 85. The cause of death is yet to be confirmed.

Numi also appeared in the notorious Ed Wood movie Plan 9 from Outer Space. Her career took a nose dive by the 1960s, but her distinct Vampira look can be seen today in the contemporary Goth look.

A memorial service is being planned for Numi.

Rest in peace!

Tragic Twins

January 11th 2008 22:41
So rotten luck. I feel sorry for them.

YA couple discovered after they had married that they were twins who had been split up at birth and adopted by separate families, according to a member of Britain's House of Lords.

British peer David Alton recounted the story to parliament last month to support his argument that artificially conceived children should be told who their biological parents are.

Alton said he had heard the story of the separated twins from a High Court judge who had dealt with the case.

"This did not involve in vitro fertilization: It involved the normal birth of twins who were separated at birth and adopted by separate parents," said Alton, an independent member of the Lords. "They were never told that they were twins."

"They met later in life and felt an inevitable attraction, and the judge had to deal with the consequences of the marriage that they entered into and all the issues of their separation," he said.

"I suspect that it will be a matter of litigation in the future if we do not make information of this kind available to children who have been donor-conceived," he said.

Alton could not immediately be reached for comment and no further information was available about the twins or where they were from.

"I think it's a very tragic story for the people involved," said Pam Hodgkins, head of a group that helps adults affected by adoption.

"It is a lesson that we need to learn and apply to the situation of donor-conceived children," she told Sky News.

"Whilst ... nowadays it would be most unusual for siblings to be separated ... the risk of secrecy affecting the lives of people born as a result of egg and sperm donation is exactly the same as the risks that have affected adopted people in the past," she said.

I wonder how they found out they're twins.

Another Masturbate-a-thon

January 10th 2008 05:02
I thought I blogged about the previous masturbate-a-thon here but it doesn't appear on my search and I won't be bothered with sifting through all my posts. Anyway, for those who missed the last event good for you that they're doing it again this year. Book your plane ticket for Copenhagen now!

Hot on the heels of San Francisco and London, Copenhagen is to host a Masturbate-a-Thon in May which organizers hope will help break lingering taboos about self-love, an organizer said Wednesday.

Pia Struck Madsen, a sexologist in the Danish capital, said her goal was to see men and women from all backgrounds come together -- pardon the pun -- and join an event that promises "pleasure, relaxation and sexual self-discovery".

"Masturbation is positive, safe and an erotic alternative," she told AFP ahead of the event on May 31, to take place at a yet-to-be-decided venue with separate rooms for men, women and those who don't mind mingling.

The original Masturbate-a-Thon took place in San Francisco in 1998, with participants raising money for good causes. Now an annual event, it was followed by a similar event in London in July 2006.

When Will Amy Winehouse Die?

January 8th 2008 21:15
That's what the deathpool website is called. I didn't enter because I suspect that the site harvests names and emails for spam but in case anybody's interested, the "lucky" entry which correctly guess the time and date of Amy Winehouse's death will win an ipod touch.

Bizarre claims about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ 20-month-ol daughter Suri Cruise has been published in a new unauthorized biography about the Scientologist. Andrew Morton claims that Suri was conceived using the sperm of dead Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard.

Morton’s new book also throws accusations at Scientologist groups about Cruise’s ex-wife Nicole Kidman. He claims she was blackmailed after their marriage ended in 2000. Morton alleges Scientologist feared Kidman may be a threat to Cruise so they threatened to release intimate details about the couple’s sex life if she publicly slammed their religion.

Now for something cute.

Hoping to send the message that pets are life-long partners not disposable accessories, a Japanese maker of medicines for animals has begun giving employees who own dogs or cats a monthly "family allowance" for their pets.

Now This Is Holy Water!

January 4th 2008 16:06
Holy Drinking Water, produced by a California-based company called Wayne Enterprises, is blessed in the warehouse by an Anglican or Roman Catholic priest (after a thorough background check). Like a crucifix or a rosary, a bottle of Holy Drinking Water is a daily reminder to be kind to others, says Brian Germann, Wayne's CEO. Another company makes Liquid OM, superpurified bottled water containing vibrations that promote a positive outlook. Invented by Kenny Mazursky, a sound therapist in Chicago, the water purportedly possesses an energy field that Mazursky makes by striking a giant gong and Tibetan bowls in its vicinity. He says the good energy can be felt not just after you drink the water but before, when you're holding the bottle.

The most recent entry in this niche is Spiritual Water. It's purified municipal water, sold with 10 different Christian labels. The Virgin Mary bottle, for example, has the Hail Mary prayer printed on the back in English and Spanish. Spiritual Water helps people to "stay focused, believe in yourself and believe in God," says Elicko Taieb, the Florida-based company's founder who was formerly in the pest-control business. All three companies give a portion of their profits to charity.
