This Guy Is The Ultimate Slacker

December 29th 2006 18:03
I thought the Japanese are workaholics. This man just proved me wrong.

KURASHIKI, Okayama -- A senior official at the Kurashiki Municipal Government, who worked only 26 days in about five years, will be dismissed at the end of this year, officials have said.

The 48-year-old public servant, whose name is being withheld, was absent from work for almost the entire period between fiscal 2001 and 2005 by using his paid leave, other paid days off and by taking sick leave for a psychosomatic disease.

During that period, the senior official received some 26 million yen in salary and bonuses, officials of the municipal government said. His dismissal takes effect on Dec. 31.

On Dec. 18, the official, who is currently on paid leave, asked the local government for permission to return to work.

But after talking to lawyers, psychiatrists and local human rights commission members, the local government decided to dismiss him, believing that he would not be able to work for the local government anymore. (Mainichi)

Inking It

December 28th 2006 20:59
I don't have a tattoo. Well at least not yet anyway. I keep on telling myself that having a tattoo on my arm or my back will look warped when I start exercising and lose some weight. I have a point, hey. I've seen those kinds of tattoos and they're not pleasing to look at. Another factor is it's expensive to get a tattoo but I promise I will get one when I actually make money from this blog. Mark my word! Or write that down on skin. Heh!

Popgadget.com posted about a tattoo ink which can easily be removed with just one laser treatment.

Based on research done by scientists from Massachusetts General Hospital and Duke University, a company called Freedom-2 LLC will start offering a tattoo ink that can be easily removed completely after just one laser treatment.

Current methods of removing tattoos suffer from multiple disadvantages. The root cause is the inks that are mainly derived from substances used in car paints and printing. Since these inks are meant to leave a permanent effect, removal involves multiple expensive laser treatments and in many cases undesirable scarring. The Freedom-2 (F2) ink adopts a body friendly approach to solve this problem. The ink consists of biodegradable dyes encapsulated in tiny polymer beads, and the same traditional delivery methods are used to make a permanent F2 tattoo from it. Removal is done using a single laser treatment that breaks down the beads in the ink, allowing the body to naturally expel the dye contained within it.

The ink will be released in early 2007.

Here's another tattoo ink technology I love.

Check out this gallery for more awe inspiring tats. If I can combine to permanent yet removable ink plus the UV one, my tattoo would be kick ass!

I want to use the earthquake as an excuse for not posting here lately but the quake was just last December 26 and I haven't been posting since the 24th.

A pair of powerful earthquakes off the coast of Taiwan damaged undersea cables and disrupted telephone and Internet access in Asia on Wednesday.

"All of the ISPs in Singapore are affected," said Michael Sim, a spokesman for Starhub Internet Pte. Ltd., which provides cable and wireless Internet services, referring to connectivity problems in Singapore. Sim blamed the disruption on damage to undersea cables caused by the earthquakes. Internet access in the city slowed to a crawl and some Web sites were unreachable.

"Everybody's doing their best to migrate [traffic] to alternate routes or to fix the affected routes," Sim said.

Japan's NTT Communications Corp. said 84 leased lines were out of service as a result of the problems and international toll-free calling was being disrupted. Conventional international calling was in operation albeit with limited capacity, said Akiko Suzaki, a spokeswoman for the carrier in Tokyo.

A magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck off the southwest coast of Taiwan, near the town of Pingtung, at 8:26 p.m., local time, on Tuesday, according to Taiwan's Central Weather Bureau. The U.S. Geographical Survey (USGS) said it was stronger at 7.1 and Japan's Meteorological Agency estimated it at magnitude 6.9.

That quake was followed by another eight minutes later with a magnitude of 6.4, which the USGS estimated at 7.0 and the Japanese Meteorological Agency estimated at magnitude 7.2. Southern Taiwan was also hit by several powerful aftershocks measuring between magnitude 5.9 and 5.2, the CWB said.

The quakes, among the most powerful to hit Taiwan in recent years, left at least two people dead, according to press reports.

That first quake knocked out parts of the SeaMeWe 3 (South East Asia Middle East Western Europe 3) and APCN2 (Asia Pacific Cable Network 2) underseas cables. Both are major telecommunications arteries in East Asia and their temporary loss is what's led to the problems being observed on Wednesday. Traffic that traversed the cables has been switched onto alternate routes but those other cables are now congested.

As a result Taiwan's telecommunications infrastructure was hit hard, with just 40 percent of international calling capacity to the U.S. functioning normally, Chunghwa Telecom Co. Ltd., the country's largest operator, said in a statement. Calling capacity to Japan and China was also affected, with 11 percent and 10 percent of capacity operational, respectively, it said.

Damage to the cables also disrupted Internet access in China, Hong Kong and Singapore, Chunghwa said, noting that it will take up to three weeks to repair the affected cable systems.

In Beijing, a China Network Communications Group Corp. (China Netcom) representative, who gave only his surname Chen, said some international connections had been affected. That disruption left some international Web sites accessible in Beijing, while others could not be reached. Chen did not know when full service might be restored.

The region where the earthquake occurs is near the boundary of the Eurasian plate and Philippine plate. The region is one of the most seismically active regions of the globe.

Conveniently stolen from ITworld.com

The truth is I was just lazy.

Psycho Killer, Qu’est Que C’est?

December 23rd 2006 17:11
Today's post is about one of my favorite blogs, Dead Silence. This blog is purely about serial killers past and present. Book, movie, online resources are also sometimes featured. My favorite post is about serial killer groupies. You know, women who gravitate toward jailbirds for insane reasons. Well, she (the blog owner is female!!!) listed some reasons why those women are drawn to serial killers.

Beauty and the Beast syndrome: they like the idea of getting close to danger that will probably not hurt them, but there’s always the slight chance
Low self-esteem: some women believe they cannot find a man and since men in prison are desperately lonely, it’s an easy way to get involved
Hybristophilia: some people are sexually excited by others who commit violence
Attention: when they do something like get involved with a killer, people talk about them and often the media puts a spotlight on them

Interesting! Another favorite post of mine is about the common characteristics of serial killers.

1. Over 90 percent of serial killers are male.
2. They tend to be intelligent, with IQ’s in the “bright normal” range.
3. They do poorly in school, have trouble holding down jobs, and often work as unskilled laborers.
4. They tend to come from markedly unstable families.
5. As children, they are abandoned by their fathers and raised by domineering mothers.
6. Their families often have criminal, psychiatric and alcoholic histories.
7. They hate their fathers and mothers.
8. They are commonly abused as children — psychologically, physically and sexually. Often the abuse is by a family member.
9. Many serial killers spend time in institutions as children and have records of early psychiatric problems.
10. They have high rates of suicide attempts.
11. From an early age, many are intensely interested in voyeurism, fetishism, and sado-masochistic pornography.
12. More than 60 percent of serial killers wet their beds beyond the age of 12.
13. Many serial killers are fascinated with fire starting.
14. They are involved with sadistic activity or tormenting small creatures.

I went over and over the list and I hardly qualify although I suspect I have the potential to be a serial killer.

Just scoot over to the Dead Silence blog if you want to find out more about the likes of Ed Gain, Jack the Ripper, HH Holmes, and you.

Another news about my favorite race, the Japanese.

Christmas (Krismas is what I call it) is not a holiday in Japan since most of the population are either Buddhists or Shinto. However, they still celebrate the day in a very unusual way. They have a KFC dinner because they believe that Westerners celebrate it that way. Blame it on the marketing campaign of KFC there. KFC's head honchos in America must be laughing while the Yen keeps on flowing in

Myspace Turns Morbid

December 22nd 2006 22:12
If you don't know what Myspace is, you're probably old and feeble. I take that back. Even my grampa has an account in Myspace. So if you don't know what that is, you are a big pile of donkey poo. Go read another blog.

Those who are still reading this, I'm assuming you are familiar with myspace. I bet you even have a profile there. If you don't have one, you're not pretentious then. You're not emo, goth, a whiney school girl, fan boy/girl, flaming fag, etc. You're normal and you belong to the 1% out of the whole humanity who can still be considered as normal

So You Want To Be A Mortician

December 22nd 2006 21:57
Sorry for the brief hiatus. I had to tidy up my grave a bit.

Since I'm back, I will present you with steps on a wonderful and always in-demand career. Most probably you have to spend most of your working hours in a dank basement but since you will be handling the dead, it is very rewarding. Just pray to the gods that you won't be handling a loved one cos that would like really suck

Encyclopedia Dramatica

December 17th 2006 21:54
I'm sure all of you are familiar with wikipedia. If you don't know what that is, you are either a newbie on the interwebs or a total loser with 28.8 modem dial-up connection. This post if for those who know wikipedia.

Isn't wikipedia great? So clean, so precise, so factual, SO BORING. I bring to you an alternative in the form of Encyclopedia Dramatica. It's like wikipedia but with pizzaz. The contributors, I am one of them, are made up of basement dwellers who have nothing better to do while waiting for their porn downloads to finish. Let me quote you one the entry regarding wikipedia

Here's another great creation from the land of the rising sun. Guro (also known as ero guro) is a type of visual art which combines macabre with erotica. The movement originated in Japan and can be found in their art, cinema, and music and thanks to gaijin otakus, its popularity has spread to different parts of the globe and thereby increasing the number of sick fucks who have internet access. I am a sick fuck and I am a big fan of guro although I wasn't aware at first that some of the artists I admire are considered as guro artists.

Trevor Brown is one of them. A whitey who transferred to Japan, he became popular for his cute yet grotesque creations

Rollercoaster Bowling

December 14th 2006 13:19
I never heard about the PC game Roller Coaster Tycoon until today. I'm familiar with other simulation games such as Sims and Sims 2, Sim City, Lemonade Tycoon, Civilization, etc. I've even played some of those games. Sims 2 ruined my life for awhile. I mistook it for real life so I was talking Simish for two weeks when I got back to the real world. Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 sounds like a kiddie game. At least I thought so until I saw this video.

Chocolate Chip of Shame

December 13th 2006 13:17
You're goth?

I stumbled upon this crap of a goth and after reading it and staring at the photo for 5 minutes dumbly, I became enraged. I searched for any chocolate chip I could find and when I ended up with nothing, I surrendered in defeat. So I looked at the photo again and decided to share it with everyone. I wonder how you would react

Are You An Aspiring Hearse Driver

December 12th 2006 13:11
...or just curious about driving for the dead? This post is for you because you will end up riding one someday. Hopefully not soon.

horse-drawn
Hearse driving has been with us for ages. Transporting the dead used to involve horses and carts but through industrialization, motorized hearses came about. Popular makers of modern hearses are Ford, Cadillac, Lincoln, Mercedes Benz, Volvo, Jaguar, and Opel. Maybe in Japan, they have souped up hearses. Or flying ones. In Venice, the hearses are special since our regular hearses would sink in their canals. Venicians use a modified boat which sort of resembles a hearse

The Ballad of Nevada Tan

December 11th 2006 18:56
I love Japan, the country famous for its sushi, robots, flying cars (well, they're almost there), hentai, sumo wrestling, harakiri, and suicide pilots. It's also where Nevada Tan hails from. The phenomenon that is Nevada Tan has been around the intarnets for years now but I'm sure a lot of you aren't familiar with her. That's why I am here, I would like all of you to get to know this interesting pre-teen.

Nevada Tan
Nevada Tan used to be a regular school kid. She loves the computer and the internet, she likes watching movies and tv, she's into sports, she has insecurities like any 11-year old girl. Let's forget that sentence. She's not like a regular school kid. She does like the internet and movies. She has a webpage dedicated to horror and violent movies like Battle Royale. Nevada is in the school basketball team but got kicked out of it. She has insecurities which caused her to commit a crime. See, Nevada Tan is extraordinary. When her classmate Satomi Hitarai blogged that Nevada sucks and even called her overweight, she didn't take it lightly. She demanded an apology but instead of getting one, Satomi called her pretentious. Taking life lessons from her favorite tv show Monday Mystery Theater, a horror show where victims are easily killed with the use of box cutters, Nevada looked for her own box cutter and took it to school. She took Satomi to an empty room where she covered the girl's eyes and proceeded to slit her throat. Then she went back to her classroom to attend her lessons even if she was still covered with blood. A teacher noticed her rather unusual appearance and investigated what took place. Of course, when she discovered Satomi's lifeless corpse, she called the police who took an apologetic Nevada into custody

Surreal Art

December 11th 2006 16:51
Persistence of Memory
Persistence of Memory
Surreal Art, or Hippy Drug-Induced Art as I call it, has been with us since early 1900's. Salvador Dali gained notoriety for this (as well as his well maintained mustache) especially with his melting clocks painting which is formally known as Persistence of Memory. I love Dali and his eccentric art but the new breed of surreal artists have something to boast as well. The art they create are sicker, more perverted, and more twisted than ever. I'm also nuts for them.

If you are a fan of surrealism, a pervert, a hick who doesn't know what art is, or just a curious reader, check out beinArt which is a collective of present surreal artists and some of their works. My personal favorites are Mark Ryden, Carrie Ann Baade, Michael Hussar, and David Stoupakis. The site is definitely not work-friendly

A real doll. Not the other kind of doll who has sexy curves, long gorgeous hair, legs which go on forever...you get my drift. His girlfriend is a doll because IT's made of plastic, foam, and other synthetic materials. Not only that, the guy owns 3 other dolls. Spare girlfriends perhaps?

How Not To Make Money From Blogging

December 8th 2006 18:46
This is a re-post. The article originally appeared in my blog at burymeinthisdress.com.

I’ve been a blogger for more than 6 years now and I never really earned anything from doing it. Well not exactly. I got Mike to donate me a couple of dollars. Aside from that, nadda. Not a single cent. The Adsense on my sidebar is useless because nobody ever clicked on it. My Amazon Associate account never brought me revenue. And my textlink ad for RSS never got approved. With the advent of problogging and probloggers, the way I blog is probably as extinct as the Dodo bird. I can only drool as increasing number of bloggers in the interwebs receive paychecks or products for review. Hell, that bastard Darren Rowse who owns problogging.net was able to buy a house because of blogging. I wouldn’t even be able to buy a pack of chewing gum for my blog. I am hoping that would change in the future but as for now, I think I have enough credentials to give tips on how not to earn money from blogging

Patron Saint of TeH InterNets

This is St. Isidore. He's the Patron Saint of the internet. I have no idea in hell how that came about but we might as well take it. If you are pious, you pray to him when you have internet problems. If you're like me, most likely you would curse him for your crappy connection. St. Isidore, watch over us sinners

Intro

December 4th 2006 06:28
I love blogging. Heck I even own my own domain (http://burymeinthisdress.com)where I have a blog I regularly update as well as a gallery where I showcase some of my photography. Problogging is a new concept for me even though I've been blogging for almost 5 years now. I never made any money from blogging although I occasionally got presents from people I met because of it. I guess the problem with my blog is that I have a niche market. Not everyone could relate to it but that's perfectly fine with me. I don't want to sacrifice what I like just to attract more readers. I admit that it would really be sweet if I could earn or get freebies from the hobby. Hopefully I could combine my interests and sweet moolah through Orble. There's no harm in trying, right?
