Well there are conflicting reports if she really has Cobain's ashes but who'd want to smoke ashes anyway?

German artist Natascha Stellmach is reportedly claiming to be in possession of Kurt Cobain’s ashes and is threatening to smoke them as part of a morbid art exhibition.

The late Nirvana frontman’s cremated remains were reportedy stolen in May from his rocker widow Courtney Love along with thousands of dollars worth of jewelry.

Courtney claimed to be “suicidal” over the loss, saying at the time:

“I can’t believe anyone would take Kurt’s ashes from me. They were all I had left of my husband. Now it feels like I have lost him all over again.”

Stellmach says she has ‘acquired’ the ashes and has released a statement announcing her find and also detailed her plans to smoke the ashes as part of the forthcoming Set Me Free exhibition at the city’s Wagner and Partner gallery on 11 October.

But she won’t say how she came to be in possession of the remains telling Artworld magazine:

“That’s confidential and kind of magic. They came to me. And I am setting him free.”

I’m just curious, since they were stolen in the first place shouldn’t she have to turn them over now that she has announced she has them??

Anyways, Courtney Love has denied reports that German artist Natascha Stellmach has ashes of her late husband and is now insisting the ashes were never stolen in the first place. Her representative Alan Nierob retracted her previous comments, saying Cobain’s remains “were never taken” and the story of the burglary had been “erroneously reported”.

Oh the drama!

I bet Courtney Love will storm that exhibit.

Creepy Underwater Sculptures

September 26th 2008 08:42
Orble threatened to pull the plug on this blog since I haven't posted for ages so I here I post again. I know, I've been lazy and shit but whatever.

Jason de Caires Taylor is the creator of the first underwater sculpture park. At least, that's what his website says. The sculptures which are installed off the Caribbean island of Granada can be mistaken for a modern Atlantis if an unsuspecting diver finds himself there.

Taylor, an avid diver, creates his sculptures out of wire, plaster and steel. They serve as artificial reefs for sea creatures so not only has he created art, he's doing the environment good as well. Nice!

If I have a beach property, I'd commission him to do creepy works for me. I'd dump them in the middle of the night and invite friends to snorkel without informing them about the sculptures.

Coffin Restaurant

This is in Ukraine. It would have been cool if they didn't shrinkwrap the coffins and use garbage bags on the walls.

I find this creepy. Those crazy Japanese.

TOKYO (Reuters) - A Japanese man who was mystified when food kept disappearing from his kitchen, set up a hidden camera and found an unknown woman living secretly in his closet, Japanese media said Friday.

The 57-year-old unemployed man of Fukuoka in southern Japan called police Wednesday when the camera sent pictures to his mobile phone of an intruder in his home while he was out on Wednesday, the Asahi newspaper said on its Website.

Officers rushed to the house and found a 58-year-old unemployed woman hiding in an unused closet, where she had secreted a mattress and plastic drink bottles, the Asahi said. Police suspect she may have been there for several months, the paper said.

"I didn't have anywhere to live," the Nikkan Sports tabloid quoted the woman as telling police.

Local police confirmed that they had arrested a woman for trespassing, but would not comment further on the case.

They're perfect for each other. Both are unemployed, they're about the same age, they already share everything, and they're already keeping secrets from each other!
